Driving in to work today, I glanced in my rear view and saw a spectacular display that God was weaving through the sunrise. Eagle’s Landing Christian Academy sits upon a high point along Highway 42 and we can often see the splendor of God’s majesty displayed from this vantage point. I find myself pulling out my phone some mornings and again on some evenings, when the day is done, in some attempt to capture the beauty.
“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them. Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.” ~Psalm 19: 1-4
But how often do I walk through my days without notice or even a glance to God’s gentle ‘speaking’ of His love…His provision…His glory…His GRANDNESS?
“When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him?" ~Psalm 8: 3-4
If you’re like me, at times we find ourselves ‘sleepwalking’ through our days. Doing ‘our best’ when God is literally ‘showing out’ all around us….beckoning us to cast our cares on Him. But, guess what? Our ‘best‘ is never enough. Never satisfying. Never fulfilling. When will we lay down the tyranny of the urgent and take up His enabling? His perfect plan? His rest?
“Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind.” ~Genesis 9: 14-15
When I find myself struggling to manage my time, wrestling with a deadline, sporting a bad attitude…failing…it’s time to step back and realize I’m trying to ‘do’ in my own strength. It’s so unnecessary! How prideful! God is so patient. He’s gently nudging me and silently calling me to give it all to Him.
“For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.” ~Romans 1: 20
So, what are you carrying today? He’s trying to get our attention. He longs to take the burden from us. He has a perfect plan for each of us. Are you resisting it? Illness, heartache, financial difficulties, making life-changing decisions…are all truly difficult. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned through my journey—thus far—is that God.Loves.Me! And He knows what is best for me. He will not keep His plan/answers/peace/comfort/blessings from us.
You may just need start by looking up.
